Oral Contraceptive Use Associated With Decreased Risk Of Ovarian Cancer, Endometrial Cancer Three Decades After Discontinuation

MD Edge ObGyn (2/3, Remaly) reports, “Oral contraceptive use is associated with a decreased risk of ovarian and endometrial cancer 3 decades after discontinuation, according to an analysis of data from more than 250,000 women.” Furthermore, “oral contraceptive use is associated with a short-term increased risk of breast cancer after discontinuation, although the lifetime risk of breast cancer is not significantly different, the researchers found.” The study was published online in Cancer Research.
