The ASCO Post (2/1, Stenger) reports a single-institution study at the University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center in Cleveland, Ohio “found that a high proportion of patients with cancer and their caregivers were unfamiliar with available complementary and integrative medicine services.” Patients were surveyed “about five complementary and integrative medicine therapies – acupuncture, massage, meditation, music therapy, and yoga,” and reported being “most familiar with therapeutic massage,” at just 34.2%, while “approximately half” were unfamiliar with acupuncture (46.5%), yoga therapy (46.8%), and meditation therapy (44.7%). The findings were published in JCO Oncology Practice.
